Professional and consumer offerings from Sony, JVC and Panasonic provide for VCR's and cameras.

VCR's come in VHS, SVHS and MiniDV formats depending on your preferred format. 4 or 6 head consumer (S)VHS decks with Nicam stereo provide exceptional quality at very reasonable prices with additional features such as NTSC playback and jog/shuttle control.

The two JVC MiniDV decks both have useful features. The DVS1 is a combined SVHS and MiniDV machine allowing simple transfer of media to and from SVHS for whatever purpose. The DV600 is a low priced professional deck employing full external control from an editing system and component I/O as well as the standard S-Video, DV and composite connectors.

Cameras range from the budget Sony domestic suitable for remote mounting in a visual system right up to the professional JVC DV500 with MiniDV back end. The latter has full broadcast features as found on the best of cameras but comes at a price suitable for those without the big budget. Other possibilities include a range of Sony cameras with DV I/O for connection to Laptop base editing systems for video away from the editing suite.

We have experience in high end and budget systems and we operate an Avid system in-house which is available for use with our editor.
